My First Job before Armageddon (1975)
by TerryWalstrom inmy first job before armageddonprologue: i left texas in 1974 and headed west to california to search for a job as an artist.
i didn't want to spend the rest of my life toiling for minimum wage as a janitor jehovah's witness.it was the year before 1975. as a jw, that should be a scary year.
not for me!i was determined to escape from all the influences of crazy people and to start living a real life.and now the story begins...______he was a tall man with a full and kinky black beard, glasses, and pretentious poseur pipe.. his name was jim rakey (rhymes with "flakey") and he belonged to a cult dedicated to the eternal truth: atlantis (the lost continent) would rise again from the sea as the enlightened government for all the world.

Thinking about the end of the Watchtower
by JeffT infirst, a word about the watchtower’s financial position: nobody (outside the watchtower organization) knows.
the wtbs is not required to disclose its finances, and doesn’t.
we can speculate, but that is all we are doing.

Invisible
by compound complex inthis place -- unknown to all but me -- has become my refuge.. at last, i have discovered a tiny spot out in the open -- i love open spaces -- where no one can see me.
it is beautiful here while i watch people walk to and fro past me; yet, i am unseen.
i yammer giddily at them, but they are completely oblivious to my presence, my antics, my mock plaints.. i laugh, but they do not laugh with me because they do not see the joke.

I am Nancy Drew who writes crazy little rhymes
I am an X JW who left because it wasn't the right answer
I am a curious traveler of unusual ideas fearless burning bridges behind me
I like cats, beaches, marcona almonds and sunrises with coffee
But I'm hiding here in cyberspace free to be whatever and say whatever and tickle my curiosity about other humans.

A Lonely Quest
by compound complex instrangely, a cool sense of tranquility washes over me as i come out of my reverie, my black reminiscence.
i look out my window to the street below.. the vision of youthful ideals embodied in vaporous blur upon the pavement has evaporated.
gone for the moment but sure to return as an untold want, a wish for explanation: why did it all go so terribly wrong?

Benny woke up in his bed glad to find he wasn't dead
He used to laugh he used to play the sun was shining everyday
His legs would run free on the beach and life smelled like a ripened peach
But now his body feels like schlock he goes to bed at nine o clock
Oh cursed spite, oh cursed spite there is no way to set it right

"Please pray for me."
by compound complex ingreetings, friends:.
today, i saw an old friend in town, and, after we got caught up and finally said our goodbyes, she asked me to pray for her.
family problems were eating her up.. how have you responded if and when you were asked this?

I believe in being as compassionate as I can be without compromising what I think is true. I don't pray it feels like begging a ruthless king not to kill you or torture your family and friends. However, I show my concern and offer my hopes for everything to turn out well. A lot of times you just can't make it right.

Their interest in us is self-serving.
by compound complex inwhy these war-beasts have kept me on i haven't a clue.
perhaps my ruddy complexion is a reminder of the basic hue of a home deserted yet scarcely forgotten.. .
i cannot by any stretch of the imagination -- and there's been a great deal of such "stretching" lately -- attribute to these coarse and loathsome creatures any delicate sentiment characteristic of our gentler race.

The scorpions took us for a ride gently on their leathery hide
But somewhere on the road we knew their promises weren't coming true
Their stingers poised to stop our flight we ran for cover in the night
And even now we hear their song although it's been so very long

The Lesser God
by compound complex inlike the night before, and so many others too numerous to count, i am awake.
widely and wildly.. stumbling to my crowded desk, i sit like a spineless lump upon my ladder back and settle in for the duration.
i light a new candle, earlier fitted into a brass holder, and, by fits and starts, i commence putting pencil to paper.

I recently watched an interesting documentary about the artist Johannes Vermeer and the possibility that he painted using optical devices. The title was "Tim's Vermeer". Check it out.

Release
by compound complex inan ever revealing awareness possesses me:never again shall the cool, comforting reposeof sleep calm my worried brow.
i pace my litter-strewn floor, i walk the shadowed lane below, yet.
that ardent promise of darkened reverie become sweetslumber is as certain as the sun shall not set and the moon.

by TerryWalstrom inthe lady of the sycamores ( by terry walstrom).
the monday she arrived hit local folks just like a bomb.
not since widow wilson ran away with reverend tom has gossip traveled quite as fast and twice as far in townand then the party started with the word she was around.

THE MAN OF THE MONKEY PUZZLE TREE
The man of the monkey puzzle tree was handsome, brave and five foot three
Everyday he'd walk his dog a pug that looked like a paunchy hog
One Sunday evening in the park little Poochini began to bark
Out of the bushes and across the lawn ran something that looked like a leprechaun
The duo took off in hot pursuit and cornered a monkey in a sailor suit
So if you wonder how that little guy got free
Just ask the man of the monkey puzzle tree
